  Trogir

TrogirDo you know who Kairos is? According to Greek mythology it is a god of opportunity embodied in the character of a beautiful young man with wings on his feet, who, always in a hurry, passes mortal men and that who catches him by the tuft of his hair gets an opportunity – "a lucky moment". Do you know where you can see him? In Benedictine convent in Trogir, a town called "town museum".

In 1997 UNESCO enlisted Trogir's town center as a world heritage site. Tower Kamerlengo, palace Čipiko, Radovan's portal... all this awaits you.
History

History of Trogir starts in the 3rd century BC, when Greeks founded what was then Tragurion. Until the Roman era Tragurion developed in one of the main ports, but with the development of Salona, Trogir looses its importance. During migration of Slavic tribes, the residents of destroyed Salona escaped to Trogir, and from the 9th century Trogir falls under Croatian rule.

In the year 1107 by the certificate of Croatian-Hungarian king Koloman, Trogir gained its autonomy, but the Saracens attacked it already in 1123. Still, after it recovered it continued developing through Trogirthe 12th, the 13th and the 14th century. In the 15th century starts a long period of Venetian rule that lasts until the 18th century when Trogir falls under Habsburg dynasty.

During World War II Trogir was occupied by Italy, it was freed in 1944. After this it becomes a part of Yugoslavia, and since 1991 a part of Croatian Republic.

Gastronomy

Trogir is equal to most Dalmatian towns when it comes to restaurants that offer fish specialties. Fresh fish prepared in the simplest ways, grilled, is the queen of Dalmatian cuisine. Even though preparing Dalmatian specialties is simple and it feels like you could do it easily yourself, still ever chef has his/her own little secret.

So don't be shy, ask hosts or restaurant personnel for a few trick. You must have already heard of some meat dishes like Dalmatian "pašticada" with gnocchi and it's time to try them. Finally, treat yourself with rozata, a sweet made of eggs, milk and sugar.

Sport

Surrounded by crystal clear sea and islands with pleasant and warm Mediterranean climate, Trogir is a place you shouldn't skip on your sailing or cruising on the Adriatic. There are many ways to reach Trogir and to meat the town and its people, but surely one of the best ways is to sail to it, dock your boat and admire the town and its splendid beauty.

ACI Marina Trogir is one of the biggest, but there are many smaller places to anchor like Drvenik, Šolta or Čiovo.Trogir
Beautiful beaches are excellent for swimming and sunbathing, and the surrounding places are appealing to divers. Ask somebody for a recommendation in one of diving clubs. For those who do not know to how to dive there are many diving schools.
Fun and night life

As in all Dalmatian towns, you can find entertainment in Trogir. Concerts are organized for a small number of audiences that enjoys intimae atmosphere, and there is also rich cultural heritage since UNESCO enlisted the entire town center in its world cultural heritage.

For the evening entertainment there are restaurants and bars where you can have fine cocktails or a glass of wine. Easy music is a good background for pleasant get-together, but the atmosphere rises and the party finishes sometimes at dawn with the sipping of first morning coffee on the waterfront.
