In order that the charter contract may be valid and serve its purpose, it must contain the following elements:
-
* Normal information about the contract sides: the charter company and the renter. If the renter does not want to be the skipper, then the skipper should be separately listed together with all important information about the permit that entitles him to run the vessel.
-
* The object of the contract (the vessel with all its important characteristics).
-
* The exact price of the boat rent and exact sum of the deposit together with all conditions and possibilities of payment. Also, all additional content that the lessee is about to rent should be explicitly shown, such as the outboard engine, the dinghy, the spinnaker, etc., with all corresponding prices.
-
* The rent term with the exact dates and hours when the vessel should be checked in and out at the master port.
-
* The destination port, i.e., the port where the vessel has to be returned to in case of "one way charter".
-
* The exact number of persons who will be renting the vessel, i.e., the number of people who will be aboard.
