The group of northern Dalmatian islands includes the islands of Ugljan, Pasman, Vir, Dugi otok, Ist, Molat, Silba, Olib, Kornati, Murter, Prvic, Kaprije, Iz, Krapanj, Zirje and other small islands. A peaceful atmosphere, an easy way of living and time that practically stands means no noise or hurriedness.

Long Island is the largest island of Zadar archipelago with many numerous bays, most famous of which are Sakarun and Telašćica. Telašćica is also a beautiful Nature Park. Olive grove Saljsko polje
situated on the island is locally called "olive forest" with olive trees, which are up to 700 years old. Mysterious world of the sea can be explored on many diving locations in the area. In the summer the island hosts many fishermen festivities, donkey races, sport activities and competitions, most famous of which are Saljske užance in the village Sala. Ferry lines connect the Long Island with Zadar on everyday basis.
The island of Kaprije is especially interesting to yachtsmen and sailing visitors because of its many bays and naturally formed ports. It is situated in the middle of Šibenik archipelago between the island of Kakan and Zmajan. The island was named after a Mediterranean plant whose buds are used as a spice – kapra. The island is full of beautiful beaches, it is a very peaceful and quiet place, sunny and relaxed scented by olive and pine trees. Kaprije is connected to Šibenik by a ferryboat driving on a daily basis.
Molat is an island of unspoiled nature situated in the northern Zadar archipelago. You will find three small villages on the island of Molat: Molat, Zapuntel and Brgulje. The island is an ideal place for a peaceful holiday that has beautiful beaches, clear sea and green pine forests. The ideal way to explore the island from outside is on a small boat driving from one hidden bay to the other. Yachtsmen often visit the island on their way to the National Park Kornati. The English king Edward VIII also visited Molat on his cruise. Once a day a ferryboat comes to Molat from Zadar.
Olib, placed on the western coast of the island of Olib belonging to the Zadar archipelago, is a great place for a tranquil holiday. Olib is the only place on the island and dates back to Roman times. Many valuable archeological sites can be visited on the island. Olib is connected by ferry to the city of Zadar. Several secluded bays near the place itself and the shallow Slatina and Slatinica bays on the eastern side of the island are ideal for those looking for tranquility and privacy. Besides recently caught fish, the islanders also offer homemade wine, oil and cheese. As for sports, you can go diving, fishing and, if you have your own board, windsurfing.
The island of Pašman is in a way twin brother to the island of Ugljan because they are of approximately the same surface area and position, and with similarly situated towns. On the island of
Ugljan there are places such as Tkon, Ugrinić, Kraj, Pašman, Barotul, Neviđane, Dobropoljana, Banj and Ždrelac. There are many vineyards, olive groves and herbs on the island. There are also many pebbled and sandy beaches. One of the most beautiful sandy beaches is in Mrljane, a village famous for its small swamp with healing mud. From the top of the island you can see the National Park Kornati. On the island there are numerous paths for mountain bicyclism.
The island of Ugljan lies is several nautical miles away from Zadar, and it is connected to the island of Pašman by a bridge. It has been inhabited since the Roman times, which can be seen through the remains of Roman convents and old summer residences. Noble families from Zadar used to built their residences on the island, most famous of which is the Califfi castle from the 17th century. Fisherman places such as Ugljan, Lukoran, Kukljica and Preko offer you Mediterranean flair in restaurants and taverns and on festivities such as "Kaljska ribarska noć" in the town of Kala on the night of the full moon. Bays of the island are ideal places for going diving, and the island's inland is very interesting and suitable for trekking and mountain bicycling.
The island of Zlarin is situated in Šibenik archipelago, divided from land by Šibenik canal. The islanders are traditionally working in agriculture, fishing, wine growing and sponge production. Zlarin has beautiful swimming places with sandy beaches, it is peaceful and quiet, picturesque and very hospitable, which is why we recommend it to families with small children and all those who want to spend a peaceful holiday. Cars are not allowed to the island.
Šibenik archipelago counts many islands and islets and includes National Park Kornati, which attracts many visitors. Ferryboat Šibenik-Zlarin drives everyday connecting the island to land.
Ist is one of the island from Zadar archipelago situated north of the island of Molat. There is a small marina which is very popular among sailors. Most beaches on the island are sandy. We recommend this island to all those who wish to spend a peaceful holiday in nature. On top of the island stands the church of Lady of Snow. If you climb to the church you will be able to enjoy the wonderful view over the nearby islands. Ferry lines from Zadar drive regularly towards Ist on everyday basis.
The island of Kornat is the largest island in the Kornati island group National Park. Kornati are a true delight for sailors, divers and all people who want a secluded and peaceful holiday in nature. The clear blue sea rich in fish attracts many seagulls.
Kornat was inhabited already in prehistoric times. Evidence to this is a prehistoric stone ax found beneath Padinka hill on the island of Kornat. It is unusual to see miles and miles of stone rock walls, which were made by sheepherders and local population in order to preserve pastures on this modest land. You can reach Kornat or the surrounding islands by boat on an excursion organized by tourist agency which has the permission to organize trips to Kornati.
The island of Murter is the largest island of Šibenik archipelago connected to land in a place called Tisno. There are four settlements on the island: Murter, Tisno, Jezera and Betina. The island has been inhabited very early, its firs residents being the Illyrian tribes, which can be seen today through the remains of a Illyrian settlements "Colentum" near Betina. Due to its position and the vicinity of National Park Kornati, the island of Murter has been interesting for many sailors who anchor in its bays. Sandy and pebbled beaches among others Slanica and Kosirina are very attractive. The island of Murter is a starting point on the way to National Park Kornati so it is often called the "Gate of Kornati" (Vrata Kornata).
The island of Prvić is situated between Vodice and Šibenik. It is the closest island to land and it
probably got its name due to its position (the first island) It has been inhabited since the Middle Ages. Prvić is an ideal place for a peaceful holiday. There are two villages on the island: Prvić Luka and Prvić Šepurine. In Prvić Luka there is Church Lady of Grace with the grave of Faust Vrančić, the man who invented parachute. Prvić Šepurine is a small place composed of stone streets labyrinth. The island of Prvić is connected to land with ferryboats that drive between Šibenik, the island of Zlarin, the island of Prvić and Vodice.
The island of Vir with beautiful and clean sandy and pebbled beaches is a pleasant destination for a familiy holiday. In the center of the island there is a same called town Vir. The sea around the island is very clear, the climate is pleasant, and the summer heat is freshened by soft breeze. The landscape is picturesque varying from karst to vineyards and olive and fig groves. The island of Vir is connected to land by bridge.
Iž is the island of fishermen, potters, and olive-growers. It is covered in typical Mediterranean vegetation and it belongs to Zadar archipelago being only 14 miles away from Zadar. Iž is the only Dalmatian island which kept the tradition of pottery. Pans and pots made from characteristic island
clay attract buyers with their specific forms. Every year in July the islanders celebrate the "Iška fešta" (Iž festivity) keeping the tradition from the Antique. During this time, visitors are welcomed to see traditional cloths and island dances, hear traditional songs, and taste domestic meals. There is also the election of the king of Iž whose mandate lasts for one year.
Visiting the top of Korinjak hill will give your an excellent opportunity to see the whole island. Ferry lines connect the island of Iž with Zadar and Long Island.
The island of Krapanj is the smallest and the narrowest inhabited island on the Mediterranean. Its reefs are habitats to sea sponges and red corals. Krapanj is famous for sponge growing and diving. The island's center is occupied by a village mostly built of stone houses which form a labyrinth of stone streets, characteristic for Dalmatia. There are many lovely buildings one of which is the Convent of the Holy Cross protected by the state. You can find entertainment in several café bars, and if you want to party until the morning we recommend visiting Vodice and Primošten. The island of Krapanj is connected to land by ferry boats driving on a daily basis to Brodarica near Šibenik.
Silba is the most northern Dalmatian island southeast of Lošinj. There are many pebbled and sandy
beaches inside beautiful bays along the island's coast, most famous of which are Potorišće and Pernastica (situated on the northern part of the island) you can best reach by boat. The symbol of the island is a tower called Toreta with an external spiral stairway which serves as a lookout point. If you come to Toreta you will enjoy the view over the entire island and the surrounding area. Be sure to try many fish and shellfish specialties. Ferryboats starting from Zadar will get you to the island of Silba or to another island nearby.
The island of Žirje is the most distant island on the Šibenik archipelago. It is a famous fishermen settlement and fishing area. Due to its distance from land but also because of its ferry connection to land Žirje is an appealing destination for people who whish to spend a peaceful holiday. Ferries connect the island of Žirje with the island of Kaprije and Šibenik.
